Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat plays Lonesome Desert Rock, with an emphasis on melody and rich harmonies. Their fresh Americana sound is the perfect soundtrack for long drives down a lonely highway.

"Whiskey And Waves" Review by Chris Jay, VCReporter

"There’s the power-pop factor present on tracks like “The Only Thing” and “Ain’t Complaining” that are reminiscent of The Lemonheads, yet alternative country in the vein of The Jayhawks reigns supreme on “Scared of You” and “107 Songs.” On the other hand, “More Than I Wanted” and “Falling Graces” are flat-out movie montage stoner rock."

"The recording, engineered by Earle Mankey (The Runaways, Concrete Blonde) is surprisingly lo-fi, which works well for the overall vibe, and there’s even a guest appearance from everybody’s favorite local renaissance man, Neal Casal. While post-power-pop-alt-country-desert-stoner-rock (PPPACDSR as fans like to call it) is a relatively young genre, Whiskey & Waves is its Sgt. Pepper."

Album Review: Medicine Hat

"I dig the harmonies and interesting texture to tunes such as “Falling Graces” and “More Than I Wanted” both of which would fit like a glove in one of those quirky Quentin Tarantino movies. But most songs are rooted in  Country, where I can envision people two-steppin’ to such tunes as “Whiskey and Waves,” “Another Sad Song,” as well of “Scared of You”  which has additional electric guitar courtesy of Neal Casal." ~ Pam Baumgardner

CD Release Party, Aug. 2

"...a new full-length album which for fans of Americana music should be the most anticipated release of the year.” — Chris Jay, VC Reporter

Concert Art Shows - Review

LIVE MUSIC ON MAIN RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆

The Medicince Hat Performance

COMMENTARY: by Concertartshows Saint Pierre featuring the four piece Americana Psychedelic Rock band that have awesome alternative original arrangements. The group is based in Ventura. Their first album is due to be released in June 2015. They are excited about the prospects when we interviewed the lead singer. EL and I both agreed that Main Street needs more bands like this.... to demonstrate their songwriting abilities... Covers are getting grotesque on Main lately. Jonny Reese provided a fair share of happy hour prices when the band appeared 6pm - 9pm. Thank you Jonny.... let's be sure to get more of the original artistic performances for ALL OF VENTURA to enjoy.... LONG LIVE THE ORIGINAL PERFORMING ARTIST ON MAIN STREET. Tonight we are in Heaven with "Medicine Hat".
